2026 Food Drive Makes a Huge Impact

Each summer, Thornton & Grooms hosts a food drive event to benefit our local community. Every customer who donated three non-perishables over a six-week period received $10 off their plumbing, cooling, electrical, or drain services. We are grateful to the 243 customers who contributed to our event.
“We’ve been supporting CARES of Farmington Hills with our summer food drive for over five years. We appreciate their continued commitment to caring for our local community. We used to conduct our food drive between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but when we learned that 27% of those with food insecurity are children, and many of them depend on the free or reduced lunch programs, we quickly adjusted the timing of our food drive to help CARES when the need is greatest.”
Thornton & Grooms hoped to reach 1,000 pounds of donated food items. The team loaded two pallets full of boxes onto the scales at CARES for the annual weigh-in. “I was shocked and grateful to realize not only did we surpass our goal — but we crushed it! Our customers helped us donate 2,205 pounds of food to CARES. That’s the equivalent of feeding about 1,650 school lunches. I can’t wait to see what we will accomplish next year,” said Candace.
These contributions will directly benefit CARES in Farmington Hills. CARES plays a vital role in supporting those facing food insecurity in our area. Through its food pantry and market, CARES feeds over 700 families a month. The donations collected during this drive will help CARES continue its mission to provide everyday necessities to those with insufficient financial resources.
Thank you to everyone who donated to our food drive. Your support and contributions mean so much to our team and our community. We are thankful to have such caring customers and team members.
With appreciation,
Thornton & Grooms
